Thapar University admissions are offered in five undergraduate and four postgraduate and PhD courses. The university offers BE, B.Tech, BE lateral, IEP, and BE-MBA at UG level. In addition, it offers postgraduate degrees, such as MA, ME, M.Tech, and M.Sc. Apart from these, it offers professional courses such as MBA and MCA. For Thapar University admissions candidates need to pass competitive exams like XAT, MAT, GMAT, JEE Main etc. 

The university also conducts Thapar Entrance Test for admission.  All the students, mostly for undergraduate courses, must pass the Thapar Entrance Test to get admission to the university successfully. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of the desired course before applying for Thapar University admission. The eligibility criteria for UG courses in Class 12 from a recognised board whereas for PG courses it is graduation from a recognised university. Thapar University cut-off for BTech courses is based on JEE Main scores whereas the cutoff for MBA admission in based on CMAT and NMAT scores. The cutoff for BTech courses is released in the form of closing ranks and for MBA courses Thapar University cutoff percentile is released. Thapar University cutoff 2024 for BTech course has been released by the admission authorities. The cutoff for BTech in computer engineering branch is 86730 for general category students (outside Punjab). One must note that Thapar University cutoff 2024 depends on various factors such as number of applications received, seat available in each course, reservation policy, etc. Candidates aspiring to take admission to BTech in ECE must have a rank equivalent to 112350 or less than this. As per the previous year cutoff trends of Thapar University for MBA, the expected cutoff for admission based on CMAT is 75 - 80 percentile (general category). On the other hand, Thapar University cut off for NMAT will be 50 - 55 percentile for all the specialisations.
