Barkatullah University is a university in Bhopal, which was formerly known as Bhopal University. BU Bhopal has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a 'B' grade in 2015. It is considered to be one of the oldest universities offering UG, PG, Diploma, and Certificate courses in Madhya Pradesh. Besides regular classroom courses, BU Bhopal provides distance education at UG, PG, and levels. 

The university offers admission in B.Tech and M.Tech courses based on scores in national-level examinations. Barkatulla University admission to some courses is merit-based. However, students must qualify in the BU Bhopal entrance test to secure admission to B.Pharma, B.Ed, B.P.Ed, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.P.Ed, LLM, and BA LLB programmes.
