Cochin University of Science and Technology is a state government university. The college was established in 1971 and was originally known as University of Cochin and later reorganised as Cochin University of Science and Technology. It is located in Kochi in the state of Kerala. CUSAT particularly emphasises postgraduate studies and research in the fields of applied science, technology, industry, and commerce.
The university has been re-accredited by NAAC with an A grade and is also recognised by UGC. Additionally, more than 70% of the departments of CUSAT Kochi have won research projects that have been awarded by national agencies like ICMR, DRDO, DAE, and ISRO. It is the only university that has been publishing a high-quality newsletter in English for the past 20 years highlighting all-important university activities. The Cochin University of Science and Technology also provides recognition to several well-established premier research institutions in the country and the Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.

Cochin University of Science and Technology admission in UG courses is based on the minimum qualifying marks in 10+2 examination and marks secured in CUSAT Common Admission Test. In order to be eligible for PG courses at CUSAT, candidates need to have good academic records in graduation to get admission. Selection in PG courses will be based on the scores of various entrance examinations such as GATE, CMAT/ CAT for M.Tech and MBA respectively. Admission to PG courses is also based on Department Admission Test (DAT). In addition, for getting admission in Ph.D. at CUSAT, candidates must hold a Master’s degree from a recognised university with minimum qualifying marks.
