North Eastern Hill University is ranked 80 in the NIRF ranking 2023 with a score of 44.95. NEHU Admissions 2023: The CUET registration window for NEHU admission into UG and PG courses is open from February 9 to March 12, 2023. NTA will conduct the CUET 2023 within May 21 to May 31, 2023. The JEE mains exam dates for NEHU university B.Tech admission 2023 are out. The exam will be conducted between April 6 to April 12, 2023 for the April session. The UGC NET for NEHU PhD admission is scheduled between February 21 to March 10, 2023. 

The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) came into existence on 19th July, 1973 through an Act of Parliament. It consists of three campuses- one main campus in Shillong , the Tura Campus and the third in West Jaintia Hills District. The university was awarded the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Chair on Protective Discrimination for a period of five years. Further, NEHU was accorded a 4 star status by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India for a period of five years, commencing from September, 2000. At present there are fifty-three undergraduate colleges affiliated to the NEHU including eight professional colleges.

NEHU courses are offered by 44 academic departments and two centres under eight schools of study. They are offered in a wide range of disciplines like engineering, technology, architecture, literature, business and management, etc. NEHU admissions into UG and PG programmes are based on CUET scores. To pursue PhD at North-Eastern Hill University candidates must appear for an entrance test and viva.

The NEHU campus in Shillong has modern research facilities including a DBT-sponsored Bioinformatics Centre, DST-sponsored Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF), Computer Centre, and so on. There is also a well established library and hostel facilities for both boys and girls.
